Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
BJJ is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. It teaches self defense against an opponent, with strength, and assailant by using leverage and proper technique—most notably by applying joint-locks and choke-holds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as ‘rolling’) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through the grades/belts.
Our classes usually start off with a few rounds of rolling. Next the instructor will go over the technique or techniques of the day. After some live drilling, students will do some more rolling to finish the class.
At Fitness Fight Factory we teach both Gi and No-Gi BJJ. Gi classes are one and a half hour long whil no gi classes are one hour.
